But if youвЂ™re not a fan of Destiny due to its repetition, IвЂ™m afraid Rise of Iron only fuels those flames. If you simply enjoy playing Destiny and want new things to strive for, Rise of Iron provides that. Similar to The Taken King, once the main campaign is complete in Rise of Iron, several new quests open up, including new weekly patrol quests that are required to unlock artifacts (one per week per character) and complete the progress book. Rise of IronвЂ™s campaign is a measly 90-120 minutes, and recycles many of the same enemies, bosses, and environments that weвЂ™ve seen in the past. But those that have grown tired of endlessly playing the same raids, strikes, and missions over and over, there isnвЂ™t much here that will hold your attention. Rise of Iron is a much smaller scale release, but still one worth checking out for heavily invested players. The Taken King was released in September 2015, and was a major overhaul of DestinyвЂ™s core mechanics. IвЂ™ve written about Destiny from the days of its alpha test, and with its latest expansion set to be its last before the inevitable sequel, I couldnвЂ™t pass up the opportunity to write about it one last time. As such, IвЂ™ve only played through a small handful of games in 2016, and sat down to review only one. A few details that briefly appeared on the official Destiny website yesterday included that Rise of Iron would be released on PS4 and Xbox One, with no mention of the older console generations.My gaming habits have dwindled over the past year, for many reasons. While also not yet confirmed, it seems the Rise of Iron expansion will finally see the end of DestinyвЂs support for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. Last yearвЂ™s Taken King introduced swords, so hammers could be a natural extension of that. ThereвЂ™s also a brief shot of Lord Saladin wielding a giant flaming hammer, suggesting players will be seeing a whole new weapon type. There will be new weapons and gear as well, which is standard for each expansion the game sees. WeвЂ™ll likely find out in detail what the expansion will include during the live-stream - which takes place in just under 3 hours at the time of this writing - but the trailer states that there will be new story missions, at least one new strike, new maps for PvP, and, most excitingly, a new raid. We see the character Lord Saladin, which Destiny players will recognize as the vendor for the Iron Banner event, preparing to face off against a new threat from the Fallen enemy race. The trailer, which you can see below, features the same scene that was revealed a few weeks ago when official poster art leaked online.
